The pool area really is stunning. It is calming to spend moments there. Although the hotel is out of the city, it’s a 10mins drive to the central station for Kuranda or Spirit of Queensland etc, 15mins to the town. Rooms are basic and simple but clean, and fresh towels are provided daily and the beds made up. The beds are amazing, the huge size and the comfort cannot be beat. It is perhaps not a hotel to spend hours in, as there is no bar or restaurant, yet saying that, reading a book by the pool or on the small balcony overlooking the luscious green plants and palm trees surrounding the pool, is also beautiful. It’s a place to stay and enjoy after being away during the day on either a snorkel trips or visiting the rainforest etc. This is reflected in the price though. It is a clean and decent hotel to enjoy the night and have a relaxing swim. Parking is ample around the hotel, the small shopping mall has a huge grocery shop which is convenient when you’re going on trips. Staff are friendly and attentive and help where they can. We would come again!

The pool area was lovely. The hotel has a leisure pool, and a lane swim pool. Both clean and very well kept. There are sun loungers and a sandy beach area also. A couple more parasols/shaded areas for sun loungers would be great as there wasn't quite enough when we were staying. The hotel rooms are well kept, the bathrooms were very well maintained. There are fridges in the rooms which is great, and a laundry room if you are back packing! The hotel is a 30min bus journey into town, and bus stop is easy to find. The lady at reception at the time was very helpful telling us what was in the area. So although the hotel isn't in the centre of Cairns, it's only a short bus ride away All the staff at reception were friendly and professional. We felt very confident leaving our baggage with them whilst we were out on a boat trip and we really enjoyed our stay.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would return in the future if I were to return to Cairns. The hotel is more in the style of a motel, similar to ones you find in the USA. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. The laundry facilities were great for anyone who needed to use them. There were tea and coffee supplies updated every day and a fridge in the room to keep any supplies purchased nice and fresh. There was also a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board in the room. There was a daily maid service, fresh towels were supplied daily upon request. The reception staff also supplied crockery and cutlery when I asked, although this wasn’t standard in the room.

You get exactly what you pay for. There are no bells and whistles: the rooms are basic and clean, the staff are fine, the location is outside of the main areas. Its half the price of other options, dont expect different! That said, the pools are fabulous. In choosing here you trade off a fancy room and central location for a much cheaper rate. For my visit, this was perfect (week long sports carnival, not tourism). Don't stay here without a car if your purpose is to be a tourist.
